The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operation of the maintenance department and the appearance and working order of the hotel. Maintain the interior & exterior of the building, parking lots, and common areas, maintaining all equipment in guest rooms, conducting monthly safety inspections, and train the staff on safety procedures. The Maintenance Supervisor must be able to respond to emergencies with professionalism. Willing to work flexible hours when necessary. This position requires overall maintenance knowledge and trouble shooting ability with skills in IT, low voltage, painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, light equipment, and tool usage. Computer proficiency is a must. Must demonstrate positive leadership skills.
*Perform project maintenance and repair work, to all types of building systems and mechanical equipment within the hotel and grounds.
*Assist guests with service requests on an as needed basis.
*The Engineering Supervisor will need to learn, understand, and become proficient in all computer systems utilized by the Engineering department (i.e., energy management systems, electronic key systems, HVACR controls, etc.).
*Work frequently with electrical circuits, control circuits, gas fired equipment and plumbing systems as well as various power and hand tools.
*Must be able to meet challenges with a positive and proactive approach. Must work well with associates, guests, and vendor partners.
*Must be able to lead, coach, and train team in a positive manner that aligns with the Hotel Valley Ho culture.
*Perform work timely and is satisfactory to all parties concerned.
*Responsible for keeping the shop clean, orderly, and safe.
Specific job knowledge, skill, and ability:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using a combination of skills and abilities.
*Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
*Must possess the ability to follow instructions and be able to trouble-shoot.
*Proven mechanical aptitude in the following fields: HVACR, electrical, plumbing, commercial food equipment and building construction and/or repair.
*Requires strong decision-making and interpersonal skills.
*A basic understanding of Windows® based computer systems (Word, Excel, etc.) or the ability to learn pertinent applications for the engineering department is desirable.
